About

Hi!

My name is Katie and I’m a vegetarian who enjoys art, writing/blogging, photography, social media, the news, cooking for friends, craft beers (or real ales if you’re in England), graphic design, PR speak, talking to strangers, vintage fashion, chips (those fat English fries you get at a chippy) and pub quiz night.

My professional life sees me as a communicator and photographer of sorts and I’m always up for a challenge and open to prospective freelance projects. I’ve interned with various publications including British Journal of Photography, photographed several art parties in London and have also done community moderation for  Qype.co.uk‘s online community. Currently my 9-5.30 sees me as KashFlow‘s first official Community Manager; outside of the working week you can either find me at my local, at the yoga studio or checking out a new art exhibition.

I’m also an entertaining bar tender when one is needed in a pinch.

Originally from Fall River, Massachusetts, I moved to London, England, in September 2010 to earn an MA in international journalism from City University. Before that I was living in Boston, Massachusetts, where I completed a BA in communication and art at Simmons College. This degree was mostly taught in Boston, though I did travel for summer classes: London and China for art history and South Africa for journalism with a human rights perspective. I also studied journalism at London College of Communication as part of a semester abroad programme.

However, I also travel for personal pleasure/interest and have visited Providence, New York City, much of New England, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Florida, Dublin, Paris, Madrid, Valencia, Naples, Rome, Pompeii, Berlin, Thessaloniki and many cities and towns throughout England. Through all this I’ve become a jet lag-conquering champion, have friends in various time zones with different native languages and have learned to order vegetarian-friendly food in six different languages. Please note that my conversational/reading abilities are not up to par in all six languages, though I have nearly mastered that non-verbal international body language we all practice when we can’t communicate efficiently with words.

I own all sorts of cameras and love talking photography, so please don’t get me started unless you anticipate a lengthy, animated conversation!
